We are delighted to welcome the tenth edition of the RomaFictionFest, one of the key events in Italy, and internationally as well, devoted to the television industry.

Over the years we have given the audiovisual industry its due as one of the pillars of our cultural and economic strategies for the growth of our region, and it's starting to show. Indeed, Lazio has proven to be the Italian region that invests the most in this sector, and it also hosts more international productions than most other parts of Europe. A standing we can be proud of, the result of impressive teamwork that has seen us committed on several fronts: the new Italian film law and new mechanisms for attracting international productions, such as the most important Italian call for tender for co-productions, or the digital mapping of our filming locations.

The Lazio Region has allotted sizeable funds to the audiovisual sector; for 2016 alone, we have invested €23 million euros thanks to the co-production call for tender, to which should be added the funding for the "Creatività 2020" calls that will get underway in January. Underlying these initiatives is our awareness of the size of the industry and the importance of this sector to the identity of the Lazio region, which alone accounts for 30% of the Italian businesses operating in the audiovisual industry.

Our commitment is to all the professionals working in this sector and to the industry's substantial spin-off for Lazio's economy itself, believing as we do that a healthy cultural sector leads to an increase in a community's level of civilization.
